Saturn and Mars
I see Mars, headlong and rash
Joyful committer, investor, experimenter
Where risk, chance and adventure
Would otherwise be avoided, evaded
For the safe path, the known way.
Creator’s darling, creating dharma
The hotspot, Achilles’ heel, passion’s feisty advocate
Not to mention karma’s work-out script.
While across the board, Saturn sits, bloodless, all bones
Biding his Time, notching up the follies, brownie points,
Working out consequences.
How those two marry and meld is a paradox!
The all go welded to the Stop – cancelling each other out:
…If it wasn’t for the orange light inbetween, I’d be for ever foxed!
Saturn treks backwards, consolidating, double-checking the books
Those hula-hooping rings fencing him into his work-station
As surely as any contract written in stone;
While Romeo gets a head-start, set to dash through the virgin’s terrain
With scant respect for the rules:
What are those foolish maidens doing, preserving their sanctity
Safeguarding the niceties of their conscientious objections
For what? When all he desires is to tussle with the demons
And propagate his seed.
Though goals may be his, in order to DO
outcomes are not!
Blood and stone the alchemy between them:
The dicthomy of Do versus Have.
Thou shalt have/do ……. or not.
So they circle each other like foes or lovers
Bait, feint and parry
With their differing tactics, weapons and intentions.
Even when they walk away it is only strategic
For they are inextricably partisan in their opposites;
Passion and fire set agin the inexorable realities of logic, limitation and time.
For me, one is a tribal lord, a bankrupt kingmaker in denial;
While Mars, my faithful enemy, steers me blindfold into willing dooms
There is no escape from.
When they dance about the sky, challenge, collude, obstruct, enable
Reeling in each and every soul, hooked, playing the game
The entire species tempered, tested, tortured and entrained
In evolution’s obligatory educational class-room
Where each master or guru wields his stick, carrot or litany
Without concession, pity or opt out clauses.
There is even a ? lecturer, a module for truancy
Not to mention rebels, victims, psychos and saints:
