They Decided To Get Married

under our hawthorn tree
to make solemn vow by the druid stone
rejoicing all together
with fancy hats and party frocks
well set-off with wellies and the fat Welsh rain.

It took a long time to gestate and grow
for the plans and desires to formulate, unfold and ripen:
how to feed all those people?
keep the kiddies busy?
Lets dress up, have races, dance and loll about- whatever the weather!
Hang lights in the old oaks – and flags in the field:
who can sing? who will strum?
who, fetch the water, fix the cables, pick up the rubbish?

All the, blueprints, the struts and structures
from scratch, without utilities
had to come together in precise and right sequence and timing:
the inner oracles to be consulted, outer strictures and mandates abided by.
But at root and core it is the dream, the vision
that which not only initiates and constructs
but creates, voila! spontaneous out of the womb of the Void
the wondrous gathering of celebration
the Earth can host for her beloved children.

How come my friends, you came to the place, to start with?
What trickle of synchronicities, co-incidences, inchoate longings
begat that first visit?
Hey! THIS is the proper place!
This is the sanctuary where we can make-happen our heart’s desire!
-that deep gut-knowing more certain than any word
Its body-slap of recognition, incontrovertible.

And I, for my part nod my head to myself
Yep! This is how it works!
It works itself, it brings who it wants and when, for what
-ever is co-creatively apposite, mutually-blessed
We don’t need guardians, guides, adverts or select committees!
nor padlocks, signposts, invitations.
We don’t need to plot and plan
for of its own, the wheeling planets profess
it will freely bring about and welcome, declaring itself
or forbid invincibly and cloak itself invisible
so the passing nosy-body wouldn’t even see the inviting track.

For those who walk the path of reverence
step lightly on the land
Gaia knows
and in the stillness between each pulse and breath
calls: It is time! come!
We have a party to make
promises to set in a diadem of petals and moon-shine
a family to bring its rainbow threads together
and validate, manifest in the flesh of earth
a wisp and waft of Heaven
for a precious snatch of grace.
