I AM ME

The personification of liberty – that’s me!
I am emancipate, the boss of my own fate
The decider of my decisions
The arbiter of my own opposites
Free from the chains of circumstance
The weights of other’s souls
- their wonder and their woe.
The old spoil-sport who declares
That “only the chains of freedom trammel not”
And only then is true freedom found
Talk about imponderable ultimates
Parodoxes of infinity
Which have nothing to do with realities and practicalities of How.

I only care for who or whatever I care for.
I have thrown off the ancient weights of the dead order
Its reign of fear and threat
Of brainless deceits and slavish hypocrisies.
I can love the whole wide world of my own free choice
With objective philanthropy and hypothetical good-will
And without the whips and bribes of promise and taboo
Long as they don’t corner me, or intrude in my private space.

I can love them as long as their love asks nothing
Beyond what I am prepared, or able to give.
I am independent, singular, self-detirmined.
I do not accept the tyranny of blind faith or rule.
While, if I do accept things stronger than my own
It is only because I elect to.

All the shackles that ever bound
I see them for what they are:
A pantheon of Fears
- the motivating impulse behind all injustice and unlove.

So here I stand, single, upright (even in my crookedness)
Unpropped by other’s pockets or brains.
I am separate, alone, defined:
I don’t need – only maybe use.
While if I don’t, I weep in tiny corners on my own.
If I rave, that’s my privilege
If I wallow, that’s my pleasure
If I ponder that’s my pride
If I fall down that’s my pain.
I offer it, share it with no other
..except…on condition that…unless…

The only reason this doesn’t work
Is I am not only me
Me is…
I am…
