What's the Problem?

Everyone else, ofcourse!
The butcher - whether of Aleppo
or our local abattoir;
The baker - on automatic with his mandatory GM flour and soy,
at the unseen price of deforestation;
The Arms-trade maker…ah, bringing closer to home the cinch:
all those nice, family folk, just paying their bills and mortgages:
their right to survive as valid as any.
Loyal markets, customers complicit.
Enablers of war, hot and cold.
Unwitting stockpilers of Armageddon - called defense.
Because it’s always those others,
across the border, with different head-gear and tongues or status.
And with assets worth taking
 - or destroying:
be it fresh water, gold, fertile soil,
gas, rare metals - or influence;
not to mention cheap labour,
enviable skills.
Susceptibility to mammon and fear.

Everyone has his price.
The problem is everyone else!

When in fact, it lies
within each and only self;
each un-peaceful mind
and deaf-dumb heart.
