Faith versus Hope

What’s the difference, darling?
Another word for each other!
One, rather slippy, inclusive, helpless
while the other, more dogmatic, assured.

Yet, see! There IS a difference:
I have faith in you  =
comforting, somehow a little knowing.
I have hope in you.
Oh dear! what chance?.
A canny gamble or daring risk;
something about dreams and wishes,
mysterious and subjective.

One a dainty jellyfish -
the other, a headlong horse.

Faith seems a discursive Mind thing,
hopefully, communicant with the heart.
Neural pathways being configured
by the mix of hereditary, karma
and subliminal conditioning,
abetted and affected - melded, mutated
by the daily prompts and  pressures.
of mood and circumstance.

While hope.
Ah!
A lurch in the belly, a tingle in the skull
as the spaces behind the eyes
and in the  throat clench.
Pure biology - derived from fight or flee
along with the language of heartspeke.
Teetering on its outer petals
like a tiny insect venturing
hesitant, drawn by invisible nectars
of dreamy  possibilities.
Honey of the soul.

Hope contains and allows for doubt
and dithering.
Faith, once it has decided
is a know-all - reliant on folly or courage.

But both can only apply with reference
to the future tense. Or non-time.
They project the sense and responses
around survival into the Unknown ahead.
Not a matter for logical calculations only,
as it brings in imagination and delusion, besides fear, ideals, precedent.
Heavenly ambitions.

The Past is set.
The Present is an unstoppable process
of momentum minas duration.
A decision take-off point.
Only the future holds the potential
for evolvement, change, actualisation,
expanding into other states or where’s.
Hence, faith describes intended stance
whilst hope, the dear angel
merges into the holy-land of Trust.
God-stuff.
