Fix it All
Ofcourse!
this hominid thinks it can
fix every and anything.
Not just it’s personal and local own
but the very wide worlds’.
Somehow, those clever fingers
and nifty neurons, multi-tasking
can undo, resolve, concoct, fiddle
any considered mal-function,
disorder, inadequacy or short-coming
let alone, contrive, invent
so-called better, quicker, easier ways
to improve any system
whether it be one’s own body,
a mechanical, electronic item,
network, structure or set-up.
The disparity between the status quo
and process of maintenance and repair
somehow, gone awol -
a toy to play with, challenge to take up:
potential source of income or jobs:
the result of insecurity,
the fear-based need to control;
or to while the time away
and mayhap, curiously to experiment,
akin to the monkey picking off fleas.
So we dash hither and thither
finding ways to fix our teeth, kettle,
children, worries and egos.
If we fail, there are other monkeys
with lower fees, higher skills and CVs,
reputations and tools, to resort to.
An inveterately fix-it species
fast to spot the blip, find the fault,
pass the can, blame or judge.
The tendency to cover-up, make-do
hypothesise and rationalize
abetting the illusionary creation
of idealised and artificial worlds.
Ah me!
Amen!
