Pondering on MEDIOCRITY

…and woefully, O the Horror -

if seeking pure perfection.

Even devotion and integrity

may fall into traps,

trip-us-up on expectations and conditioning,

get waylaid by ego

(which we believed we’d grown out of)

or happenstance - some karma or trick…

Ah me!  Ah we -

forgetting we are altogether,

grounded in a synthesis of

unified coherence, continuity.

 Even love.

And love is never, ever mediocre;

Even mediocrity is only a seed, state or stage,

somewhere in the girth of extremes,

as precious and privileged

as any existential spot

 - insofar as the man-made, mortal scales we invent, betwixt this or that.

It’s the effects of hierarchic

systems and set-ups:

Man once found it practical,

and of collective survival uses

in the face of competition

and the greed for territory and

resources.

Being in the Middle,

may even things out for a while -

long as workforces concede,

finding shelter, security and supply,

but whatif they don’t?

Mayhem, reprisals and rebellion ensue -

reducing the populace back to square one.

So whatabout the estranged elites?

Needing those worker-bee  drones -

who’re tantalised by all that they don’t have?

To save the bother, howabout concocting off-planetary resorts and AI instead?

Old story over and over again!

What’s the difference

between then and now?

Yet, there IS another route:

The secret, sacred path of

the Holy Middle Way.

Long ago told but over-ridden,

hidden in the present Moment - in the veritable heart of compassionate action

and intention, I vouch.
