THE NEED TO LAUGH
Not at anyone or thing,
but with ourselves -
our ludicrous folly,
our convoluted opposites,
the silly way we take ourselves so seriously.
To laugh at ourselves with kindness
releasing expectations and conditions -
the mind-clutter of survival terrors
that enslave and blind us, feeding the dark demons of fear.
Ego can get self-important and pompous, craving attention -
hefty, with a need for even fake approval,
like a spoilt brat.
If the heart isn’t in it
it isn’t fun or funny, light or lovesome:
naked spite and envy are evident.
Be thou as a child…
