TEARS
Whether from joy or pain,
tumbling in waterfalls,
or oozing reluctantly
the salt is sublime, divinely
crystalline in essence,
a carrier of meaning, feeling,
direct from the quaking heart.
Don’t saline oceans tell the tale?
Stormy or tranquil,
its primordial allure, always brim with life and movement;
its energising healing and wild power irrefutable.
Desert nomads find salt pans
in the wilderness,
trading to townsfolk & villages
with camels laden with dates from oases,
stray lumps of gold and many edible berries:
- Barberry, Bearberry and Hackberries, (Celtis pallida)
or Wolfberry, (related to Goji),
Pomegranate, Mesquite, Juniper;
forget not, Boswellia Serata
with its frankincense
in tears of priceless sap
gifted by ancient kings, ago.
and the blessed Boabab
holding up to 30,000 gallons
of rainfall in savannahs.

The bliss of fresh potable water,
with the water levels beneath
that conscious roots know all about.
In rivers, lakes, stored in snows, cloud and bog,
in trees and within our bodies,
every nano drop as fresh,
or vibrant in salty seas:
always flowing, resonant.
Every tear, drop of blood, sap
living, breathing Life.
