HOME - 2

Whoever thought that is just a place:

somewhere safe, personal,

welcoming?

It’s all about feeling - being loved, wanted and

belonging,

a spot to recuperate and rest,

find a trusted peace;

the reassurance of familiarity -

and everyday, meaningful things.

Home can be where we come from - a Land indeed,

where we were born and first knew Life:

a territory - and its culture -

in which our ancestors evolved or warred over

-  found refuge, safety, peace and wherewithal.

Largely, because of trade -

itinerant barter and exchange

with seasonal provision of skills,

 wearing well-frequented, long-distance route

such as migrating birds, savannah mammals,

once the nomadic ways of yore,

settling  in civic groupings:

mostly around water, resources and materials

- mutual company and protection.

The cave-man’s progeny seeking the primordial hearth.
