FINDING SOMETHING SACRED

Out of the blue, perchance

I found I was cheek by jowl with,

so close to, next door to

some unearthly shining -

someONE so pervasively luminous,

 brim with effulgent light

that consciousness itself quaked,

bending, bowed down in beatific awe

rippling, riveting, morphing the molecules

into exploding suns of joy:

an old lady - freed of mind,

free-floating in a seraphic void

of resonant bliss

 every atom sloshed -

 illuminant, irradiant.

Her besotted, innate beloveds

sensed something unreal, chaotic miraculous was occurring,

so precious that all they could do

was dandle jelly-babies,

snippets of family gossip

or updates on the weather

whilst she shone, blinding the everyday into sheer invisibility.
