THE JOY of HUMBLENESS

Seeing and sensing living beauty

 - in gestures, words, intentions,

in the consciousnesses around us

and material things - those crafted

and innate:

a newborn’s ancient gaze,

an unfurling dragon-fly,

an old, cracked tea-pot,

a wizened, weather-bent tree,

someone humming to themself,

how summer rain falls like a cat purring

and I can feel the blood running in my veins.

Knowing we know relatively zilch,

the more we think we’re masters of,

the wider, larger is the mystery all around.

Ah! We’ll outwit God

and deem we’ll get - or gotten -

to the reductionist bottom of it all

what with our maths and sciences;

yet

huger becomes the surrounding UNknown.

Stories, tales, myths and holy books

are the closest we get

to envisioning the Whole, Absolute: Inner and Outer - infinite;

the blueprint or eagle’s overview -

archangelic pinions stirring momentum

with wings of Light and the enormity of Gravity.

Here and now

there’s the loud silence of loving,

when spacetime takes a break,

 a breath

and pauses:

All in One, heartspeaking…
